Dear Friends at Kiva Han,
I
am now in Romania, in the town of Brasov on the edge of the
Carpathian Mountains. I have finally found my way to safety
after being lost in the woods for two days. I made the
mistake of attempting a private walking tour of the forest.
The forest was lovely, though frightening at night. I tried
to sleep, unsuccessfully, all of the time thinking of the
wolves, lynx, and bears indigenous to the area.
The forest is full of trees of
all sorts including beech, spruce, fir and birch. The birch
tree, also known as a hazel tree, was particularly useful on
my adventure for it contained hazelnuts to eat. Hazel trees
have long been recognized for their supernatural powers. In
ancient times a split hazel twig was thought to be magical
with the power to direct one to water or precious gems.
After making several wrong
turns, I stumbled back into town. Of course, I wanted a good
cup of coffee once I returned to civilization. A coffee
house in the area had none other than a Hazelnut flavored
coffee blend. I am sending you back this blend of Guatemalan
Antigua, Colombian Supremo, and Mexican Custapec beans.
Please present this blend to my friends at Kiva Han and tell
them of the magical powers of hazelnuts.
As Always,
